back of the wardrobe inhabitants..

If you look in your wardrobe. Not at the coordinated clothes hanging from the rail, or the categorized boxes on the floor, but at the creatures that lurk at the very back you'll be surprised. The straighteners that you'd forgotten about, the lace top you'd thought you'd lost and perhaps something that you've never even seen before. That's where I found these. Just hanging around together, their faces turn to the back, laces still tied like when they were pulled off and bunged there...

...and a whole collection of memories comes flooding back. So ask yourself this:

  1. Where did you get them?
  2. Why did you buy it?
  3. Where/When was the first time you wore them?
  4. What is you best memory of it?
  5. Why did they get thrown at the back of the wardrobe?
  6. What are you gonna do with them now?
and my answers are:
  1. Prim, a vintage shop in Norwich, I found them in the men's section although as a size four I don't think they would have fitted many males. I can't remember how much they were, but I didn't have enough money so I made my friend buy them for me and I had to pay her back later
  2. I bought them because I wanted a pair of trainers that weren't the common plimsolls, they were vintage and they were my size.
  3. I first wore them at home, just arrived home from buying them and I tried them on, walked round my room then went round the coop in them. good times.
  4. I wore them to a school trip to the Tate Modern/Britain, they were so comfy and everyone loved them.
  5. I also wore them to a sports themed party, I was a runner. They got ruined, turns out vintage sneakers don't hold out very well in the mud, dancing for hours on end and a little intoxication. they were absolutely ruined, the sole became almost detatched and one half of a toe cap was missing
  6. I'm going to keep them, possibly to remind me of the memories, but also (and most importantly) probably shouldn't buy vintage trainers without severe caution!!

discovering the macro function

Just out on a lovely Boxing Day walk around my village. I hadn't noticed until now how beautiful nature looks in winter. Despite my camera being very inadequate I've managed to refine my camerawoman skills to pull out some half decent shots... they're not too bad if I might say so myself!

christmas card from the tribe

I adore Made In Chelsea, so I guess this is a sort of homage to Cheska&Ollie's Christmas card.

Merry Christmas

I heart clothes

A trip to the Clothes Show at the Birmingham NEC always begins my winter, although I suppose November is the start of winter. The two photos above are beautiful t-shirts at a stall called Gypsy Lane, however, for the life of me I cannot find a website for them. They were simply delightful printed t-shirts some with lace all a lovely low price! I did purchase a lovely vintage cream cable knit cardigan from the Oxfam Stall (felt really good giving to charity and getting such a bargain!!)
I definitely recommend taking the trip. I went with my school on the last day so there were tons of sales in addition to the already lower the RRP prices. Plus the fashion show, fitt half naked male models & George Lamb by far rounds off the day!!

Summer Loving (in Winter)

So this is the first post I've done from my IPod so I apologise if it appears rushed or abnormal in comparison to previous posts. Literally just got back from Grease the Musical at Norwich Theatre Royal. It was so good! The scene changes were slick, although the storyline did not match the iconic film. Right from the start the audience was applauding and cheering- the atmosphere most definitely aiding the experience.
Followed by a quick snack in McDonalds and whilst walking through the Market place saw a lovely cable knit jumper in Fat face display. Quite content as have managed to do the majority of my final piece for art. Also have a fancy dress party on Saturday- got ma costume ready ;)

arm ache

I'm sorry I haven't been an active blogger as of recently. however, I literally haven't had any time to think let alone share my thoughts with anyone! The only time I swear I get to myself is spent sleeping and even that is getting stolen from me :(
This is my lino cut in preparation for my final piece for my A level art- I've already taken two prints from it and have just finished removing all of the sky!! Hopefully will be able to get my final print from it tomorrow, and then scan it in to edit on Photoshop on Wednesday (or at least here's hoping!)

Just thought I'd share this with you. It's beautiful, I could listen to it all day.

cardboard charlie

I am obsessed with Charlie Simpson's new album Young Pilgrim- my favourite two songs being down, down, down and cemetery.
We sorted out secret santa, my friends and I so that means that I need to get my butt in action and find my friend an awesome present- although I'm not too sure what to get her.. GAAH.
I'm going to the Tate Modern& Britain on Friday for my art, so expect lots of lovely photos... we going on a boat to get from one to the other, so that shall be exciting!!
Ohh, also I'm actually in love with these. check 'em out! xx

in ma vintage sneakers

So yesterday I hit up Norwich with my friend Saskia (such a beautiful name I know!!) and we spent like three hours walking down Norwich's creative lanes, where we found two beautiful shops!!

So many beautiful accessories, shoes and clothes that I just wanted them all- including the vintage levis on the mannequin at the bottom of the stairs.
I did, however, purchase a pair of vintage Dunlop 'sneakers' from Prim another vintage shop we found. I absolutely love them!!
We also went to see Footloose at the cinema. I've seen both the original and Footloose the Musical so was interested by the modern version. I loved it most probably as Kenny Wormald played Ren MacCormack- who starred in my favourite dance film ever 'Turn It Up'.

adventures in capital city

So I had my first audition for the U.Dance Ensemble at the Siobhan Davies Dance Studios (pictured right)on Wednesday- yes I know this is a couple of days late. It was the first time I had been to London on my own, and I quite enjoyed finding my way around the underground.
It was such an intense audition! I woke up the day after and literally couldn't move- I ached in places that I didn't even realised I had muscles!!
It was really great getting to meet Hofesh Shechter and have him actually teach us his own choreography. I also got a free t-shirt!!
But what is most exciting is that I got through to the final audition at the Royal Opera House!! Omg, I'm so excited especially getting to dance at the epicentre of British dance!! :O

Wide Eyed & Opened Mouth

So I've just got back from the dentist :( I hate the dentist, hate the trepidation that he's gonna frown whilst prodding your teeth and declare in a self satisfied manner (that sets my teeth on edge) that I need a filling... but today I guess I was lucky!! yay, I've survived until May half term... GROAN.

This is like my favourite song at the moment and seeing as I had to get up really early this morning to trek to the dentist I thought this would wake me up (as well as a larrvely cup of tea!!)
I'm still ploughing through my holiday homework- every time I tick something off I look at the remaining tasks as the sense of achievement is immediately wiped away!!
I have my audition for the U.Dance Ensemble tomorrow in London... I AM VERY NERVOUS, just got my tickets today and thought about what I need to take and all that jazz and I'm getting more nervous by the second... hopefully I'll take some photos tomorrow, of which I will of course share with you!! :D

Monday, 24 October 2011

So, I decided to curl my hair today... I think it looks okay?
I'm going round my friend's in about an hour to paint her bedroom... I'm really excited, I love decorating!!
Just listened to Fearne Cotton on the University tour (I think) and absolutely adored the live lounge hour!! I used to listen to kiss Fm, but then it went national and seems so unrelatable now. If you're not too keen on chart music and love indie/brit pop/alternative then you should defo switch to Radio 1- simply the best!!

running away to the circus...

So, these are some photos from when I went to Circus Space in London, for a circus workshop. These are photos are sadly quite bad quality as taken with my phone camera, but you get the generl jist... the first photo was of a really cool vintage shop called Frockney Rebel... I love the hippy painting!!

This last photo reminded me so much of a Made in Chelsea house that I just had to take a photo of it--> it's on tomorrow EXCITEMENT! xx

I think you're hot okay?

Got back from my friend's sleepover last night with all the girls- was so lovely just having fun and letting our hair down once in a while, if ya know what I mean ;)
I managed to tidy about 1/8 of my room as well and wrote a review for my other blog: Inked in Silver check it out! hehe.
After my ballet lesson (which was actually really relaxing) I went trawling round the market with dadda... saw a cute cardigan and some apples that were like the size of my head I DO NOT LIE.
I was kinda annoyed though because I was searching for John Steinbeck 'The Pearl' for my English Literature creative writing, and I couldn't find it :( :(, but on the other hand I found out that Waterstones sells Orla Kiely Stationery... defo going on my chrimbo list ;)
Now gonna chillax with homemade bread& houmus in preparation for my x-factor fix... JANET FOR THE WIN! hehe <3

give me a sign!

okay, so I have a ton of half term homework already and with one more day left before my week of catching up on sleep I am already anticipating a load more tomorrow!
I have to pick two artists over the half term of which I want to study in depth... I HAVE NO IDEA WHO! Gaah! I've literally spent all evening researching but no luck :(
I straightened my hair this morning... had to get up really early (well, for me) and am pleasantly surprised at how long it has gotten, although the ends desperately need trimming!
Just a little bit of my art work for you!! :)

Get stuffed.

Just finished my third essay of the day... GAAH! A levels are so much harder than I anticipated!! Haha, ohh well I've done them now, let's just hope I don't forget them tomorrow! ;D
I'm having stuffed peppers tonight, uber healthy and I adore peppers (especially yellow ones) so I'm really looking forward to it, plus I'm really peckish so it suits me!
This is what I wore today :) with my cheap grey zip up hoodie, which I utterly adore... it was a bit too cold today, so I wore my yellow coat as well :)
I'm listening to lovely radio 1 and trying to learn german vocabulary for friday... might watch some tv later, I don't know what's on though :L

what I'm wearing:
top& jeans--> lovelabel
necklace--> topshop

cucumber water?

I've changed fonts... sorry, this just seems so much more 'bloggy' hehe.
As for cucumber water? my dance teacher told me to look at this, so I'm sharing it with you :)

H2O is the absolute best thing for you to drink during class or a performance.  Sports drinks contain too much sugar and energy drinks are pumping you full of caffeine and a laundry list of ingredients that you can’t begin to pronounce.  But sometimes you are craving something more than water to quench that post pliĆ© thirst.
Try mixing it up with cucumber water.  In the less-than-5-minutes it takes to prepare, you’ll be feeding your body vitamin K for bone strength, Vitamins A and C for fighting germs, and you’ll be getting a healthy boost of potassium and electrolytes as well!

Prep Time: 5 min       Yields: 2 Servings

  • One large cucumber-peeled
  • 3 cups water
  1. Slice cucumber in half and scoop out seeds with a spoon, then cut into chunks.
  2. Put cucumber chunks and water into blender, puree and serve.
Variation: Add a handful of mint leaves when blending for a crisp, cool taste.
I haven't tried it yet, but I'm looking forward to it, I can kinda foreshadow that it's going to be strange yet refreshing. I'm really into peppermint tea at the moment just before bed, although there's probably some weird reason why I shouldn't drink it then :/

My friend Saskia (such a lovely name I know)and I are really into Grandad jumpers at the moment, and we by chance found an awesome vintage fashion website Kiss Me Quick- CHECK IT OUT.

Gems and Jem

Okay so today on a quick and I mean quick scout around the local charity shops... I am very pleased with my founds!!

This scarf only £1.20 and it has a really cool hook at the back so it becomes a snood also!! :)

The photo below is of a really lovely top I got from oxfam... only £3.99 :)

Considering I only had around 30 mins and got two great things for around a fiver, I'm pretty chuffed!
I'm really taking multi tasking to the limit at the moment I'm trying to simultaneously:
- write this post
- eat one of my mum's uber healthy soups
- do a lino print
- upload music onto my itunes
- and listening to Jem

Rocking out language analysis..

Whilst attempting to do my part of an English literature presentation I am actively watching School of Rock and loving every minute of it!

Tuesday, 4 October 2011

I have no idea why but I'm in a completely contented mood. I constantly am seeing things that I absolutely love!
My love of charity shops has rubbed off on one of my best friends, who proudly told me that all of the tops she had worn for the last three days she had purchased at a charity shop... huzzah!! Furthermore, as part of my German A-level I have to do weekly German speaking with the vocab technician who it turns out also loves charity shop hunting and so I enjoyed a conversation about them 'auf deutsch'!

can I have a korma?

Seriously, I never expected to be soo 'bogged down'! I have so much homework... today I got like seven separate pieces- and that's just today! I also have art and other work to do, plus dance exercises and helping my dad gaaaah!

The above photo was taken when we went for a pre school meal... actually there was no real reason for going we just fancied it :L
I realise that my posts are getting shorter and I'm doing more link surfing ones which I don't really like doing, but even writing this post was eating into my valuable and much needed art time. Don't worry it'll soon be christmas I'll just have to keep telling myself!
both dresses- H&M
belt- car boot sale
ring- claire's?

little girl racer

So this photo was taken at Soapbox by my friend's mum... every year literally my whole village gathers together and to watch a whole load of adults race down a hill in home made carts... it's quite funny actually :L
I'm rocking out my new bargain coat and a blouse that my mum gave me that morning... My friend and I were enjoying a bag of candyfloss and had just had a laaarvely latte at the new cafe... life is SWEET!

coat- tesco!

apologies, apologies, prostitution and mustard zebras

Sorry! I know it's been ages, but I've just started Sixth Form and have so much homework it's simply UNBELIEVABLE!  Unfortunately, that means that my posts are gonna be a little irregular from now on!
You know what I would really like? This:
Mustard Zebra Jumper by H! by Henry Holland
Just studied 'The Sick Rose' by William Blake and am loving getting back into the swing of English Literature... it's quite a heavy poem, about dissolute fornication and the spread of STD's due to 18th Century prostitution, but other than that it is very lyrical!
