a girl who makes potions in a travelling show

I am unsure which version of 'Your Song' I like better. Elton John's is of course the original and I love the tones of his voice, however, I do adore the Ellie Goulding version.
I've literally just finished packing for when I go to Aldeburgh tomorrow to dance for a week. I'm very excited, but sadly I don't know whether I'll be able to make any posts, so there may be a week gap!! I'll take tons of photos..
Also when I was searching around in the loft for a suitable suitcase I discovered a half made dress and some amazing fabric which I plan to make a maxi skirt from. That's my projects for the rest of the summer.
Aaah I really fancy a coffee right now. A proper latte from Costa or Starbucks. Ten miles is a bit too far to drive just for a niggle though.. I guess I'll have to settle for instant :( What I like about instant though, is not the coffee, but the fact that I can paint the jars and reuse them!! Sustainable and creative!! The last one I did a union jack print- spent about half an hour trying to get the flag the right way round. Ohhh!! just had a really good thought!! Using all the spare fabric that I've got, I'm gonna make some bunting for my room- I don't know how I haven't thought about it before!!
I haven't worn this skirt and top before together and it makes my feel a bit like a gypsy- ILOVEIT!!

red is for danger... or is it?

Okay, I think I've been bitten by something... not an insect, but a sewing bug. This is the second skirt I've made in two days. I'm actually proper chuffed with myself (to reuse a phrase).
It's weird, my grandma when she was downsizing to her new flat, gave me a ton (and I mean a ton) of fabric and I kinda just chucked it in the loft. Then I had the random thought 'let's be creative and make some clothes!!'. Which is realistically the best thing for me, seeing as I have to have a constant inflow of new clothing and am also completely skint, defo a WIN WIN!!
And yes, I know I'm wearing my espadrilles again... but I utterly love them. So easy to slip on and they  look sooo good!! And they're not too small despite being a smaller size :L

Watched 'Grown Ups' today with my family. Laughed my head off pretty much. I also met up with my best friend for a good catchup and managed to fit in a weekly shop with my mum including a traipse around town to find 'the right sort of iams' to quote mother. She'll probably hate me for this.
I'm also reading Hippotimous (not sure on spelling) by Stephen Fry and was ecstatic to discover that it is actually based around where I live. I'm still at the beginning though so not too sure on what happens.

homemade mustard

I am extraordinarily impressed with myself, in that, the skirt pictured below I made myself. And I hand stitched it!!! I didn't choose to, I broke the sewing machine, which probably wasn't the best thing.
Also, I found out that I can wear both ways round and as mustard/camel is so on trend, I'm even more chuffed with myself. Yesterday, I went with the girlies to Norwich to watch Harry Potter (again) and bought a pair of crochet espadrilles. Although the funny thing is, the hanger said they were a 5, and I'm normally a four, so I tried them on and they fitted fine, I thought 'they must just come up small'. Then later, when I went to remove the labels on the sole, I discovered they were a size 3!!! I'm pleased that they fit, but astonished that I didn't notice, ohh well :)

the biggest fashion crime

I always complain about how people wear socks with sandals and how it does not work, however, in respect, I have crossed the boundary today in that I have worn tights with sandals. I guess not exactly the same it still cuts pretty close.

I realised also that I hadn't painted my nails in a while so I dug out my favourite coral by face uk. It's starting to run out and I'm pretty gutted as I actually love it. Apparently, coral nail varnish makes your hands look smoother, so I guess its a win win situation.

Yes, my tights do have a hole in them. Regretfully, when taking these photos I managed to make a massive one at the top of my leg (I managed to cover it up), I guess I've got to find a way of wearing them now... not impressed.

This is actually my dad's work satchel which I spied in his wardrobe ( I wasn't prying honest). It's a Luca Bocelli, which I actually have a satchel in... I may be borrowing this in the future when I wish to maximise the office sheek look ;D

city in a garden

I had almost forgotten that my camera possessed a black and white feature-- first time I've used it in quite a while!! I like this photo, as I've done absolutely no editing (apart from black and white); it makes my skin look sooo clear!! :)
I seem to be a bit lost at the moment, unsure of what to occupy myself with. I'm actually rather glad that I started this blog to keep me occupied. Honestly, I think I've watched my entire DVD collection about five times, and Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire a countless amount of times!
Ohh!! Guess what!! A couple of months ago my purse was stolen at school, and then the other day my old form tutor rang up and said he found it!! They took some money, but I've got all my old gift vouchers back and the lovely purse (a chrimbo present from my daddy).

I've got my intermediate foundation modern theatre exam today, and then I think I might go and do a spot of sale shopping in Bury St Edmunds, if I can persuade my dad to pick my up later... looks like today is going to be busy, if I can only organise it right!!

Pagan Circles

I discovered Pagan Circles when reading Oranges are not the only fruit by Jeanette Winterson- a beautiful book which explores the inequality and problems faced by an adopted child growing up in a strict religious household. It seems so magical the idea that drawing a chalk or salt circle to really connect with your personal space. However, I decided for this post to use pebbles and some mushrooms to construct my circle.
I like the photo pictured above, very pretty if I might say so myself (:

lazy days

The novelty of an extra long summer holiday, is alas, beginning to rub off, despite the fact that I seem to be absorbing books at an alarming rate, occupying myself with the last of the term dance classes and watching way too much Jeremy Kyle- so much so that I actually quoted it the other day.
In addition what makes it increasingly worse is:

  1. it's constantly raining
  2. Harry Potter has come to an end
  3. I haven't done anything spontaneous or exciting for a very long time
  4. most of my friends are on holiday- boo!
However, going to the cinema to watch Harry for the last time did cheer me up- I admit in anticipation of his arrival on my local big screen I watched part one about four times back to back- I was satisfied I knew what had happened so far. It's funny most of my generation has grown up around Harry Potter even if they do not care for it... one of my friends asked me if I was obsessed with HP as she is, I replied 'Of course I've read all the books!!' she answered 'Oh I haven't'... it fails me that someone can claim to be obsessed with HP if they haven't read all of the books- it just doesn't work. Dear me, as a consequence of my obsession as well as a pair of vans (see earlier post) I will be requesting a Gryffindor Scarf to come in Santa's sack for me. I even did a sorting hat quiz: and can proudly admit, should I be graced with magic I would be a gryffindor :)

night owl

Second post of the day I know.. don't ever say I don't spoil you!! Found this rather cringy photo of me at the Quays, Salford Manchester last weekend. I'd like to think I was rocking out easy chic glamour after a whole day of intense rehearsals and performance. Okay, yes my shoes are pink and there's red bows on my dress, but I made the seriously big mistake of only taking one pair of shoes of my weekend expedition- another slap on the wrist!!
This was taken just after me having eaten a massive portion of meatballs and spaghetti at Bella Italia, it was soooo goood!! An absolute lush indulgence, so please excuse my food baby ;D

slap on the wrist

Okay, it is the biggest fashion crime to wear something two days in a row, however, I did. I meant to upload this post yesterday, nevertheless, some sneaky fellow came and stole all my time and I had no time to update-- sorry!! Consequently, this is yesterday's post...
It actually pains me that celebrities are forced by the media and the public to buy hugely expensive designer clothes and only wear them once. Some I do accept sell in charity auctions... but in seems such a waste!!
I am unsure how I discovered The Uniform Project, but I have to admit I actually love it!! It is such a good approach to sustainable and reusable fashion. In addition it helps people become more adventurous when styling their clothes every morning.
It's like having a school uniform again, and looking at how different 'cliques' or personalities make their stamp on the generic white shirt, tie and black skirt. Some use belts, socks, hair accessories-- I find it fascinating to work out what aspects of their personalities they are trying to convey.
So yes, I did wear this skirt the other day, but I like to think this is a kinda completely different outfit (:

eclectic junky I'd say

Okay, I succumbed to the H&M sale in Canterbury and bought the skirt pictured below. Yes the tiny price (a mere £3) attracted me, however, I did need another skirt and I liked very much the wrap around style- very unique!!

Today despite the fact that tons of stuff is piled on top of my wardrobe I have in fact been tidying and dejunking my room. Due to my OCD side which I have to please on a regular basis, I actually quite enjoyed tucking things into little hideyholes etc... very satisfying (:

I've just paused Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 in order to write this post, so I am prepared and ready to watch Part 2 on Saturday... very excited!!! I probably shouldn't admit to this, but when the last book came out, my mum and I pre-ordered two copies and set off at midnight, me dressed as Hermoine (with my crazy curly hair) to get them. Just waiting for the box set to come out and mum and dad to take me to harry potter world!!

is it too early to write my christmas list?

Okay, so I know it's only July, but I was actually already thinking about what I would like for christmas... pretty sad I know, but there is one thing that I really want!
My friend, just got a pair of vans, And these vans I have fallen in love with... I always liked the idea of owning a pair, and I really want it to become a reality. Maybe Santa will be obliging and pop a pair into a sack for me- size 4!!!

stripy tigers

'you know the stripes on a tiger are hard to count' just popped into my head, I love the noisettes (:
I think if you were to count the amount of stripes  a tiger has it would take you a very long time- perhaps the reason why I have been so busy (sadly I haven't seen any tigers, just was a nice post title).
Anyway, yes I have been very busy... I came back from Manchester yesterday, in which I performed at Modulate at The Lowry- I even got a t-shirt!!!

Also I had my prom... it was lovely, I think I spent the whole day getting ready, but who cares!!
I was really impressed with the fact that I managed to spend the least amount of money possible on my dress...

Today, however, I went to Pleasurewood Hills and had a great time, eating ice cream going on the rides and getting soaked on the log flume. In addition it was really nice that it was quiet and the rollercoaster queues were pretty short. I'm actually quite ashamed to admit that it was the first time I'd been there considering I live about forty-five minutes away, and it was thus a nice surprise.

Tomorrow, I'm still very busy and am going to Canterbury to study Chaucer as it may be in my english literature a-level course next year. I really love english literature, and as of yet have not touched on middle english and pilgrimage. I am very much looking forward to it.

I haven't really done many fashion posts recently, as I haven't had a chance to buy any new clothes (not that I need any), but I did manage to have a scout around the local charity shops. I feel bad, though, I must get into full bargain hunting swing over the summer- it's too good a chance to be missed!!

I've dyed my hair in preparation for my prom- it was meant to be chocolate, however, I suspect that it has a slight reddish tint. It's the first time I've dyed it and I was surprised at how straightforward it was. Although my friend did give me a tip...
- put vaseline around your hairline when dyeing it, as it will wipe off easily and you won't get any dye lines- it works!!!

Realised that I haven't done a post for a little while, and for that I am very sorry. For the record I have been very busy!! The dress above was an absolute bargain and I'd like to think that it suits me. You know what I really want at the moment... a pair of crochet espadrilles (I think that's the right spelling), so I just need to find the time (and money) to mosey on down and find some ;)

pearl in a box.

this is a slightly random photo, but I don't care!! I found it in on my laptop and it seems ages ago that it was taken- just shows how a cardboard box really holds a whole world of imagination:) :)
